Buffalo Sabres (NHL) Keeping Their GM for Another Couple Years
It’s hard to believe how quickly the start of the NBA season and NHL seasons are, but given that the New England states have - in some areas - already had their first frost, people who care about basketball and hockey are starting to get ready for their sports to come into season.
The Buffalo Sabres fans are going to be excited to know that their general manager will be staying on for another two years:
(source)The Buffalo Sabres signed general manager Darcy Regier to a two-year contract extension on Saturday.
Regier, who has been the GM of the team since 1997, is entering his 12th year as the GM of the club and his current contract will carry him through the 2010-11 campaign.
“I’m obviously thrilled to stay here,” Regier said. “I think back to when I was first hired… with all the turmoil back then, Lindy [Ruff] was hired shortly after, I didn’t know we would last one year let alone how many years this currently is. You move along not taking anything for granted.”
Sabre fans are going to find that they are in a position in which they can feel fairly good about their team for another couple years - after all, they’re keeping the GM who helped get the team to the playoffs seven of the past 11 years.
