As MLB Winds Down, More Talk Is Focused on the NHL
The National Hockey League is one of the few “American Sports” that’ focuses on all of America; loosely translated, it’s one of those sports where there are more than one team outside of the US (in Canada) and where a lot of the players who call North America home were born and raised in Canada as well.
Interestingly enough, of course, the Pittsburgh Penguins have long been the topic of discussion for hockey fans - ever since Mario Lemieux came onto the scene. Now however, one of the Penguins making news it Tyler Kennedy:
(source) The Pittsburgh Penguins re-signed forward Tyler Kennedy to a two-year extension on Friday.
Kennedy, 22, made his NHL debut with Pittsburgh last October in a game versus Montreal and wound up playing 55 games on the season, totaling 10 goals and nine assists. In addition, he added four assists in 20 playoff games during the Penguins’ run to the Stanley Cup finals.
His strong rookie campaign earned him a spot in the YoungStars game during the NHL All-Star weekend, but a bout of mononucleosis kept him from participating.
For those who are fans of the NHL - and, particularly fans of the Penguins - this is the kind of news that they want to see - the kind of news that gets them geared up for the season to start.
