So What’s the Big Deal About NASCAR?

Talk to some people and ask them what the big deal about NASCAR is and they’re going to kind of look at you funny, crinkle their eyebrow and say, “Got me - all I can tell is that it’s a bunch of guys in fast cars going in circles.” Talk to fans and they’ll say “It’s about the rush of the speed around the track,” or “It’s about strategy, drafting and making the right call about whether or not to stop for a pit stop for the last time.”

The reality is that, just like every other sport out there, NASCAR has its loyal and devoted fans. There are the jackets, the emblems and magnets for the cars, hats, t-shirts and plenty of great excuses to get together with friends for a barbecue and a beer. For that matter, there are the mini race cars designed for kids - the ride in vehicles - as well as Matchbox cars that will get kids wondering about what it’s like to be out on the track someday. Likewise, it’s a sport that’s got its detractors.

There are always going to be some folks who are fans of a given sport; there are going to be others who just don’t quite care: get in on the debate and let others know where you stand.
