Rain Out for the Sprint Cup Race in NH

Those who were looking for some racing action in terms of qualifying rounds for the 2008 “Chase for the Sprint Cup” race (The Sylvania 300) that was to take place today in Loudon, New Hampshire may have found themselves a bit disappointed when the qualifiers were rained out. Now, of course, the official starting line-up has been set by owner points.

When the race starts on Sunday - after another day of practice scheduled for Saturday - Kyle Busch will be at the pole, Carl Edwards in the second spot. The second row of drivers will be Jimmie Johnson and Dale Earnhardt, Jr. Following them will be a number of other well known racing names - Jeff Gordon, Tony Stewart and Jeff Burton are also in the top 10 positions.

So far the top speeds from the competitors have gone over 130 mph; who knows what tomorrow’s practice session will bring and what will happen after the green flag drop’s Sunday afternoon for the actual race. But then, for racing fans a lot of the excitement isn’t so much about the race itself, it’s about the anticipation.
